
Younes Bachir

Younes Bachir is an Artistic Director, Actor, and Mentor with 25 years of international experience in Open Air Shows and Performing Arts, experimenting with different artistic languages including theatre, chamber opera, open air events, video art, and cinema. Younes studied at the Superior Theatre Conservatory in Brussels, obtaining the "Premier Prix in Dramatic Art" in 1994, and completed workshops under Carlo Bozzo in Commedia dell'Arte at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano and with UltímaVez Dance Company in Belgium.
In 1995, he moved to Barcelona and joined La Fura dels Baus, where he participated as a performer until 2002. From 2003 onwards, he took a new direction within the company and worked collaboratively as a director of actors on various projects with Fura members. During this time, he worked closely with internationally acclaimed Catalan opera director Carlus Padrissa on the ship-theatre Naumon as Co-Director/Author and Director of Actors on various creations. Outside of La Fura, he worked with Calixto Bieito, Joan Baixas, and Ahmed Ghazali.
Since 2009, Younes has directed various creations in Australia and Europe, including Andante Workshop Project (2009), Confined Chamber Opera (Alice Springs, 2011), OjO (Sydney, 2011), BCN Re.Set with Alex Ollé (2014), Man's Wall (Kuwait, 2014), KabooM (Melbourne, 2015), Mentoring (FAIR-AR Marseille, 2017), Kaboom (Penang Festival 2018), Babel (Brisbane, 2018), Reasons (Videoclip, 2018), All That We ARE 3D Show at the Real Festival Sydney (2019), and a Sculpture_Performance with Roberta Busato (Bcn 2021).
He was also the mentor for Neu Leierman Chamber Opera in 2022 and is currently working on the Haddaj Show in Saudi Arabia for 2022/23.
In the field of cinema, Younes has acted in films that have received awards from the Spanish Film Academy.
He also served as a Jury member at the Sitges Film Festival in 2020.
